Funding their college studies is something that a lot of people are struggling to deal with. If you are one of these people then you may have considered attending distance learning programs also to work for a degree without many expenses. However, to make things more affordable a lot of people have also been looking into student grants.
Student grants are monetary assistances given to deserving students in order to help them fund their college education. These grants are offered by numerous organizations and can offer a lot of help for those students who in need of support.
The SHRM or the Society for Human Resource Management is a charity organization working towards their goal of providing researched-based solutions to create a better workplace for HR professionals. Aside from that, the organization also believes that in order for the field of Human Resources to thrive, ample resources must be dedicated to training and developing bright practitioners of the discipline. With that said, in order to further develop the next generation of HR professionals, SHRM launched a scholarship programs that would give out student grants to deserving students.
The SHRM Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship is a $2500 scholarship given to a current member of the SHRM, either a student or a professional from the said organization. Each year there will be 21 scholarships given to deserving students and the deadline for all the application submissions is set at October 1, 2018.
In order to be eligible for the grant, you must be a current SHRM member, either a professional or a student. Furthermore, the student must also be degree seeking of an undergraduate degree either through a university or one of the distance learning programs accredited by the organization. The degree program that the student is pursuing must be a field related to Human Resources such as business, Psychology, or organizational development. A GPA of at least 3.0 must be met by the applicant.
To apply for this scholarship you must head on to the official website of the scholarship at https://www.shrm.org/foundation/ourwork/scholarships/undergraduate/pages/default.aspx. In this page you must fill out the form with your contact information and answer some questions regarding your volunteer work and experience. Aside from these, you must also submit your current resume as well as two letters of reference written by workmates, coaches, teachers, and more.
